Every Treatment is tailored to our clients individual Needs.

Most of our clients visit us for our unique ability to provide quality, consistent massage therapy in a professional, relaxing space at an affordable price. Bluewave Remedial Massage is not just a ” jump on the table and rub you down” massage business. Whether it be your first treatment or a follow up treatment , we will carry out a consultation prior to the massage to identify your main areas of concern and work out the best treatment plan for you.

We like to ensure that you have a clear understanding of what we are going to cover.

A session at Bluewave Remedial Massage can be a combination of relaxation/Swedish massage, Remedial, movement release techniques , Sports, deep tissue , Ligamentous Strain Techniques. We work with you to determine the best treatment plan to relieve your pain, invigorate your muscles and get you moving with renewed ease and energy.

What to expect.

Upon arrival, if your therapist is busy please take a seat and your therapist will greet you. Your therapist will ask you to complete an intake form, if not already completed and emailed back or brought along with you.
Your therapist will ask you what is your main concern and discomfort. We will then do a postural assessment and ask you further questions if necessary. We will work together to figure out the cause of the issue and what is the best treatment to help improve so you can function with everyday life, as well as help you become bodily aware of what may be causing this re-occurrence of pain etc.
Therapist will explain and discuss the treatment plan and which clothing to remove if client is comfortable doing so. We leave the clinic room to allow for privacy of undressing before laying on the Massage table and covering yourself with a sheet. We will then cover you further with a blanket if required.

Remedial Massage

Remedial massage is the systematic assessment and treatment of the muscles, tendons, ligaments and connective tissues of the body to assist in rehabilitation, pain and injury management. Remedial massage is designed to balance muscle/soft tissue length, tension, tone which will in turn promote the return to normal joint/capsular/bone position; increase the flow of blood and lymph, particularly in the injured areas, thus removing blockages, damaged cells, scar tissue and adhesions resulting from injuryWe are always continuing and expanding our studies so that we have various techniques up our sleeve to help with many different scenarios together with Deep Tissue, use of Trigger Point Therapy, Ligamentous Articular Strain Technique, Movement Release. etc.

Theraputic Deep Tissue Massage

This technique is designed to work the deeper aches of the body releasing chronic muscle tension through slower strokes and more direct pressure of friction applied across the grain of the muscles. This invigorating experience uses the elbows, thumbs, forearms and knuckles to slowly work into the deep layers of muscle tissue. It is both safe and effective and helps to create balance and harmony from within. Deep tissue massage is used for chronically tight or painful muscles, repetitive strain, postural problems, or recovery from injury. The purpose of Deep Tissue Massage is to unstick the fibres of the muscles and release both toxins and deeply held tension points. It usually focuses on specific areas and helps to loosen muscle tissues, release toxins from muscles and get blood and oxygen circulating properly.

Sports Massage

Sports Massage focuses on the muscle groups relevant to the particular sport, lessening chances of injury, assisting in the natural repair of the specific sore muscles, promotes greater athletic endurance and performance, speeds up recovery period by flushing the muscles of lactic acid and assists in rehabilitation, as well as helps to relieve swelling, reduce muscle tension, promote flexibility, prevent injuries, improve heart rate and blood pressure. Sports massage is used before or after sporting activities. A combination of techniques are used, the strokes are generally faster than Swedish massage and can involve techniques such as hacking, quacking, cupping and stretching.

Relaxation/Swedish Massage

Relaxation Massage is a gentle form of massage designed to relieve stress and encourage healing. It incorporates gentle and moderate pressures, strong therapeutic movements to ease the nervous system while stimulating blood and lymph circulation to create balance and encourage renewal. A relaxation massage treatment has a special focus on your sensory system which will leave a feeling of deep relaxation and calm. This occurs because relaxation massage prompts the release of endorphins – the brain chemicals that produce feelings of wellbeing, making it an ideal massage to combat stress, revitalise and restore the body back to balance, improve sleep, treat anxiety and tension, and enhance a range of systemic body functions such as circulation.

Pregnancy Massage

This massage is designed to soothe and relieve tension for mothers to be. A safe, nurturing massage in which the mother can choose to lie in many different positions to keep you comfortable and relaxed throughout your entire treatment. Pregnancy massage differs from general massage because there can be some risks if particular pressure points are stimulated. These are located within your wrists and ankles and massaging them can stimulate the uterus to start contracting. For the best results and optimum relaxation pregnancy massage includes your entire back/ neck, arms/ hands, legs/ feet and finishes with a beautiful baby “belly” bump Massage..(only if happy to receive)..

Remedial Hot & Cold Stones

Stone Therapy application of hot and cool temperatures stimulates the body’s own natural functions, especially the circulatory and lymphatic systems, along with the nervous system. When all these systems are working normally, all the body’s organs, tissue and cell functions improve, promoting optimum health and giving more energy.

Stone massage is believed that one stroke with a stone is worth ten with the hands and that treatment is ten times more effective and deeper then manual massage.

L.A.S.T - Ligamentous Articular Strain Techniques

Ligamentous articular strain (LAS) technique and balanced ligamentous tension (BLT) techniques are two techniques derived from what were once called “general osteopathic techniques.” They both are primary indirect techniques that affect connective tissues of the body: fascia, ligaments, tendons, and, indirectly, lymphatic and blood flow.
